Some US MVNOs use more than one network, or let you pick one when you sign up. Check before you buy.
Europe
Most European countries have three or four network operators, with MVNOs on top. For example, Germany has Telekom, Vodafone, O2 Telefónica and newcomer 1&1; France has Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free; Spain has Movistar, MasOrange, Vodafone and DIGI. See our Europe guide.
Why it matters
- Coverage: an MVNO’s coverage is its host network’s coverage, so compare postcode maps for the host.
- Price: MVNOs are often cheaper for the same masts.
- Priority and extras: some MVNOs get lower priority on busy masts, slower 5G or fewer roaming options.
- Changes: brands sometimes move networks. We check these regularly, but always confirm with the provider.
